ABOUT US
When Héctor E. Gutiérrez (Eli Galo) and
Consuelo Espinoza arrived in the United States of America, the product of a war, they decided to keep the culture, art and traditions of their native Nicaragua alive with domestic activities, dozens of people joined in supporting this
mission, they included families with their children who donated their time to the community, these, now young, are part of our Volunteer Committee. Later they give their movement a name and found Community Performing Arts Association
Inc., 501 (c3) non-profit organization. Already organized, CPAA, has welcomed groups of different ethnicities and allows them to participate in free events with in order to help them in spreading their own culture. CPAA annually holds
mass events that have become multicultural and multi-ethnic that educate and improve the quality of life for residents of South Florida, USA. CPAA creates a program called “Golden Cultural Fiesta” to bring musical entertainment to
people from senior citizens in dining rooms and community centers of Miami Dade County Citizens such as Sweetwater, Miami Beach, West Miami, City of Miami, Kendall etc.
The mission of Community Performing Arts is to promote, disseminate and keep alive the culture, art, traditions and Nicaraguan and Latin American folklore in South Florida
through free events to the community, giving the opportunity to other ethnic groups that participate. in our events so that they make their own culture known. To achieve this mission, CPAA holds annual, massive, multi-ethnic and multicultural
events such as “Festival Independencia Nicaragua, Central America and Mexico”, “La Griteria”, and “Golden Cultlural Fiesta”, dedicated to the elderly. Possibly CPAA is the only organization that offers the community Professional Events
on the street, in which attendees are given a show including food, soft drinks, fruits, sweets, gifts and toys for children, all completely free.
That Nicaraguan-Americans have our own center where we can continue our mission and serve the community through different programs and disciplines. To achieve this goal, we welcome philanthropists, corporations,
companies and charitable organizations with their financial and other donations.

Arts Association celebrates “La Griteria” in Miami as the most revered tradition of Nicaraguans with cultural and educational projection. The Spanish missionaries, in particular the Franciscans, brought to Nicaragua the devotion to the Immaculate Conception of Mary, now the Patroness of Nicaragua, the origin of this tradition and celebration possibly dates back to the 18th century and arose in the Department of León. It is the millennial tradition most revered
and celebrated in Nicaragua and in the entire world where a Nicaraguan is found. La Gritería is part of the great Nicaraguan cultural wealth because in its celebration folklore is revealed through dances, music, figures, crafts, costumes and masks. On December 7, all over Nicaragua, people overflow, as well as the Folk-Dance Schools, music such as Los Chicheros, hundreds of figures from La Gigantona and El Enano Cabezón, Los Diablitos de Masaya, Los Iguazotes, and
many figures that form part of Nicaraguan folklore, they go in the streets from altar to altar that are placed in front of houses and businesses singing, dancing and shouting WHO CAUSES SO MUCH JOY? AND EVERYONE ANSWERED “LA CONCEPCION DE MARIA, in return, the thousands of people receive free food, soft drinks, fruits, sweets, everything from Nicaraguan cuisine. Community Performing Arts (CPAA) has been given the task for many years to celebrate and keep this tradition alive among Nicaraguans, as a cultural projection to preserve and disseminate Nicaraguan folklore, art and culture in Miami among the new generations and the different ethnic groups that inhabit South Florida. CPAA also takes advantage of this event to invite other ethnic groups to present their folklore and culture at the “La Griteria” Event.
